Yesterday the father (S) and I went into town to pick up lunch for everybody. Very near the place that sells the rice and beans and "chips" is a small gathering place for a group of men. These men are exclusively Muslim. S has built relationships with many of them already. They were very welcoming and kind to me also even with my limited Swahili. The issue these men are having is that they own about five acres of land each and want to earn a living growing rice on it. However, they have no tractor and are convinced if S and his family are to be any help to them, they would get them a tractor. S has been tirelessly trying to explain to them the high cost of owning a tractor and that he cannot just make one appear out of thin air (although he is trying to find some way to get one). After explaining this for some time, the conversation turned to spiritual matters. S shared that the only true hope and comfort comes from faith in Jesus. They countered by telling him that they say their prayers and do what Islam requires of them.
Pray that these men would see the lack of peace in their lives and put their trust in Christ. Also pray that God would provide for them whether it be with a tractor as they would like or by whatever means He would see fit to use.
